Delavayanae tree peony with the following characteristics: small, single flower, in a colour ranging from cardinal red to chocolate brown, presented in the 19th century as "brown peony". Delicate and pleasant scent. Its shrub is tall, but not as tall as the P.ludlowii species and is marked by somewhat vigorous growth with smooth stems. Intermediate flowering time. Originally from Yunnan, it was discovered by the Abbot Delavay in 1884 and thus classified as Paeonia delavayii.
